NEW YORK - Writer Helen Fielding, author of the best-selling novel Bridget Jones's Diary and its sequel, among other works, gave birth on Sunday to her second child.
The baby, a girl who was not yet named, was born in Los Angeles to Fielding and her companion, Kevin Curran, an Emmy Award-winning writer for The Simpsons, Married ... with Children and late-night TV host David Letterman.
The infant weighed 6 pounds and 3 ounces at birth, publicist Katherine Olim said in a statement, adding, "Mother and daughter are both doing fine, and everyone is delighted."
The birth marks the second child for Curran and Fielding, 48, whose son, Dash, is 2 years old.
Fielding also was a co-writer of the screenplays for the film adaptations of Bridget Jones's Diary, and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, which recount the trials and tribulations of a single woman and the dating scene.
