KEY POINTS:
We came here because we'd spotted it on a recent trip to the west and thought it looked interesting. Better than the junk/antique shop that used to be here anyway. Parking was just outside or up the road.
We walked in and immediately thought this place is really small, and crowded. It hasn't taken long (two months, in fact) for the word to get round. And the chandeliers are great.
The most unusual thing on the menu was eggs benedict with portobello mushrooms as an option, instead of bacon or salmon. I haven't seen that one before but it sounded as though it could be worth a try for a non-carnivore.
We ordered eggs benedict with bacon ($16.50), omelette with ham, mozzarella and tomato ($13.50), mince on toast ($12) and the Bolton big breakfast ($17). It was all fine, although my eggs were a little too firm. The mince wasn't as savoury as Brian would have liked, but the omelettes were excellent and the Bolton breakfast wasn't so much big as blinkin' enormous.
The service was very friendly, but protracted, on a Sunday morning. One less table, perhaps? Or one more staff member?
The coffee was very good, and comparatively prompt.
We recommend if you come here you come on a weekday and try to get an outside table. There's an all-day menu as well, and the deli cabinet offers lots of gluten-free savoury goodies and sweet things. Or you could just pick up dinner from the take-out offerings, which include Thai curry and lasagne.
Overall we thought it's nice to find a good cafe in this part of the city. Pick up the service and they'll have a winner.
