Over the past two years both of Lance Armstrong's autobiographies have been best-sellers and interest in this amazing cyclist and his achievements continues to be huge among adult readers. It is therefore great to see an authorised biography for younger readers.
Armstrong is the premier American cyclist who has achieved five straight victories in the legendary Tour de France since 1999. What makes this achievement more extraordinary is that in 1996 he was diagnosed with testicular cancer which had also spread to his lungs and brain. Doctors gave him a 40 per cent chance of survival.
Gutman writes about Armstrong's childhood, his battle with cancer and his training for the Tour de France. This book will be a hit with young sportspeople.
