Keith Urban, who checked himself into rehab last week for alcohol abuse - with public support from his wife, actress Nicole Kidman - will not appear at the 40th Country Music Association Awards on November 6.
Urban is nominated in the two categories he won last year - entertainer of the year and best male vocalist.
He is also up for best single, with Better Life, and song of the year, for co-writing Tonight I Wanna Cry.
