KEY POINTS:
All good beauty products come to those who wait. So if you're not planning a trip to Australia any time soon, at least you'll be able to access some of the Australian-made skincare and makeup in these parts now.
1. Dr LeWinn's Private Formula Ultra R4 Rejuvenation Serum
$84.90 for 30g
LA plastic surgeon Dr Laurence LeWinn developed this range for his celebrity clients nine years ago. It's been voted Australia's number one skincare range. This serum is from the intense renewal range that has a patented peptide with an anti-wrinkle, firming ability, as well as plankton and golden root extracts to help with signs of stress. Skin looks rejuvenated.
* From selected department stores and pharmacies.
2. Aesop Rose Hair & Scalp Moisturising Masque
$37 for 120ml
This respected skincare range hails from Melbourne and is all about effective, no-fuss botanical-based skin and wellbeing products in distinctive brown glass packaging. It reinforces the idea of modern minimalism meets old-fashioned apothecary. This weekly hair masque aims to give hair vitality and shine with such lovelies as japonica seed, carrot juice, rose petal, grapefruit seed and lavender stem.
* From World stores.
3. Skin Doctors Eyetuck
$59.95 for 15ml
This comes with the promise that you are just weeks away from reducing those tired, old puffy eye-bags. Working on the principle that the bags are the result of water pooling, something called Eyeseryl decongests the area as it moisturises and de-puffs. The woman on the back of the box certainly looks good.
* From selected pharmacies.
4. Renew Organic Eye Renewal Serum
$29.95 for 30ml
This Melbourne-based company uses organic rose hip oil in every product for its excellent antioxidants and skin-healing ability. This serum has all that plus borage, macadamia, jojoba and sesame oils and hibiscus to help relax and smooth the appearance of wrinkles and reduce the puffy look.
* From selected pharmacies, department stores and health stores.
5. Becca Line and Pore Corrector
$65 for 15ml
Makeup artist Rebecca Williams wanted to find the perfect foundation and ended up with her own company which specialises in the unmade look. It comes down to preparation. This is a great oil-free and fragrance-free primer because, aside from being packed with antioxidants, it gives makeup a matt base to glide on over, meaning fine lines and pores are minimised. Also good to reduce shine after makeup's been applied.
* From Glamorpuss.
