KEY POINTS:
After the Christmas shopping, there's still the holiday to pack for. Keep your beauty choices laidback and affordable with easy to get items that will keep you in good nick for next to nix.
1 Tresemme shampoo $13.90
Great value, good quality, this shampoo with Vitamin E and aloe comes in a giant 900ml pump pack that will last the whole summer long. We've featured it before, but reckon it's one of the buys of the year. In six salon-style formulas. Snap up the conditioner too.
2 Freeman Bare Foot $17
This creamy pumice foot scrub will help slough off the sand and dried skin from your soles. Despite the extracts of iced teaberry and mint fragrance plus tea tree oil, this smells more like cold cream, but anything that helps tired toes.
3 Herbal Essences Hello Hydration shampoo $5.99
The teenagers will love this fresh as shampoo and matching conditioner with its summery orchid and coconut fragrance. For dry/damaged hair.
4 Aveeno Daily Moisturising Body Wash $16.95
This refreshing wash is just the thing for skin that's seen too much sun. Aveeno also has a Skin Relief Moisturising Lotion, which contains no added fragrance but has soothing oatmeal extract for dry and itchy skin.
5 Mitchum deodorant $4.22
A new budget deodorant, this smells fresh and clean and comes in the usual sport, men's and women's choices. Its good staying power is just the thing for hot days and nights.
6 St Ives Exfoliating Body Polish $10.90
St Ives' exfoliator looks and feels like a more expensive product, so it gets a second mention this season.
7 Eco Store Body and Hand Washes, Rose & Cardamom $8.99 (refill $7.99) and $5.99
These plant based washes cost no more than comparable liquid soaps, some of which contain harsh sulphates. There's vanilla and coconut, and orange and patchouli fragrances, but I like the subtlety of this mix and the package art by New Zealand photographer Deborah Smith.
8 Imodium $21.99
Not glamorous, but these emergency tablets are just the thing to pack for upset tummies, and you wouldn't want to get caught short at the bach or campsite.
Stockists: All items widely available from supermarkets. Eco Store washes also from Eco Store, Ponsonby, www.ecostore.co.nz
