Andrew Crowe has made a name for himself writing and illustrating nature books that appeal equally to children and adults.
His latest title explores the world of New Zealand wildflowers - those hardy plants whose amazing displays of colour can turn a drab hill or a monotonous stretch of motorway into a thing of beauty.
This is very much a hands-on book and it has been set out so it will be easy to use by even pre-schoolers. The flowers are grouped according to colour and Crowe provides their common and botanical names. He then explains where they are most commonly found, their history and their uses.
Shortlisted in the non-fiction section of the 2004 New Zealand Post Book Awards, this guide would be a welcome addition to the car library.
