Serves 4
1 1/4 cups self-raising flour
Pinch salt
30g butter
1/3 cup golden syrup
1/2 cup milk
Sauce
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup golden syrup
1 1/2 cup water
1. Sift flour and salt together then rub in butter. Combine golden syrup with the milk and gently mix through.
2. To make the sauce: simmer ingredients together in a large saucepan for 5 minutes, then drop small spoons of the dumpling batter into sauce. Simmer for 25 minutes and serve with extra sauce and cream or icecream.
