* Sticky, today and tomorrow at Britomart Place, 7.30pm, free, duration 50 minutes.
A spectacular outdoor event with fire and sticky tape - 7km of it is built into a 30m-high tower at each show. But to get tickets - up to four per person - you have to have a Foodtown Woolworth's Onecard and present it at one of the supermarkets.
* Visual Feasts, today and tomorrow at Aotea Sq and Queen St, 10am-6pm, free.
Artists create their own weapons of mass distraction. Talk to them, watch, stroll, marvel.
* Don McGlashan, tonight at 8, St James Theatre, single tickets $29-$49, bookings Ticketek, duration 90 minutes.
Poetic songwriter and ex-member of influential groups including the Front Lawn and the Muttonbirds is joined by DJ and bassist SJD and accordionist Tatiana Lanchtchikova.
* Look out for free surprises all around town: Art on the Buses rolls around town showing 36 artists' views of the urban landscape; Upfront sees works by Elam art school graduates displayed in various central city foyers; and sculptor John Radford, creator of the "submerged" buildings in Western Park, has installations in High St, Vulcan Lane, Lorne St and Viaduct Harbour.
