Zoro is a young apprentice working in the studio of Leonardo da Vinci. He is constantly amazed by the breadth of da Vinci's skills. Day after day the genius artist produces plans of wonderful inventions: a parachute, a bicycle, a diving suit.
He has been working on one machine, however, that he keeps in a locked room and shows nobody. When another apprentice, a mischievous boy called Salai, steals the key to the room, the two apprentices are astonished to find a flying machine. They decide to take the machine to the top of a high hill to test it . . .
Based on a true incident, this title is part of a series of picture books about famous artists Laurence Anholt has written and illustrated. It features reproductions of da Vinci's paintings, plans and cartoons, and includes a page of information about the artist.
