One user even commented, "Nothing would make me happier than someone putting a ring in an avocado and proposing to me!' while another avocado enthusiast wrote, 'Oh my! This is the perfect proposal I loved it."
While someone else wrote, "If I ever get married, tell my boo this." Another girl tagged her friend and joked, "You better have my back and tell a dude for me!"
A wedding photographer from Connecticut, Kim Tyler, was taking photos on the beach one day when in the background she noticed a couple getting engaged.
The boyfriend was actually down on one knee proposing to his girlfriend with an avocado, while ironically, she was sitting eating an avocado.
Kim posted the sweet candid photo with the caption, "I was just minding my business photographing a senior when this literally happened right behind us."
Another avocado proposal was posted on Instagram by Matt Caron who jokingly made the caption, "Every hippie girl's dream proposal."
When one woman saw the post she immediately commented saying, "OMG I didn't even know that's what I wanted and now I MUST get proposed to just for this."
Considering avocados are super mush and the fact that their bright green hue quickly turns to brown, some people were not enthused by the idea of a slimy proposal.
One girl admitted, "I love it but if it wasn't ripe though it would be a solid 'no.'"
Someone clearly grossed out by the idea wrote, "I don't want to put that on my finger while it's covered in avocado mush," while another person took it as a bad omen saying, "Not sure this is a good idea Avos go brown fast could be a bad symbol for the marriage."
Regardless of who thinks it's a good idea or not, some people who love avocados are really taking part in the bizarre trend and are ecstatic.
A woman from California, Taylor Selby, who describes herself in her Instagram bio as an "avocado lover and smoothie bowl addict," was actually proposed to with the fruit and posted proof.
She shared a photo of her now husband, Ben Stevenson, down on one knee on a beach and captioned the photo of her hubby with the avocado ring box saying, "I couldn't help but share the BEST and most creative proposal/best day of my life."
Meanwhile, if the trend has sparked some inspiration there's even a company, Custom Avocados that prints custom designs or logos of your choice onto the fruits.
They even shared that they recently had a couple from New York order where the partner proposing ordered a series of memos printed onto the avocados followed by the last one that said "will you marry me?"
Plus, one of the testimonials on their site came from Cody W. of New York, NY who shared, "I wanted something unique to help propose to my girlfriend, but couldn't find the right thing... until I heard about Custom Avocados.
"I had personalised messages printed on avocados, leading her to the final one asking her to marry me. After the proposal, we had delicious snacks for days. It was perfect! Now, I plan to get custom avocados to give as favors at the wedding."
