SYDNEY - Aussie actor Hugh Jackman briefly swapped his role as an Emmy host to be an Emmy winner at the star-studded awards in Los Angeles.
The Australian picked up the Emmy for best individual performance in a variety or music program for his work as host of last year's Tony Awards.
Jackman hosted this year's Emmys -- US television's night of nights -- at the Los Angeles Shrine Auditorium.
"Thank you ... I didn't expect it," the Australian told the crowd as he received his Emmy.
He also thanked his actress wife Deborra-Lee Furness for her enduring support of his career.
"I love you, I couldn't do it without you," he said to his wife.
"The Tony Awards are a magic night there are so many people that are involved."
Jackman wowed those who tuned in to last year's Tony Awards, which recognise top performances in American theatre.
He picked up a Tony that year for his portrayal as Peter Allen in The Boy from Oz.
