In celebration of arguably the most delicious sandwich known to man, we are asking you to send us your recipes for the perfect bacon butty. What bacon do you use? A bun or two slices of bread? Tomato sauce or no sauce - let us know your secret!
The 100% NZ Bacon & Ham Competition celebrates New Zealand's finest cured pork products and helps customers identify and appreciate home-grown, sustainable bacon and ham. It also celebrates New Zealand's pig farmers, who raise pork solely for kiwis.
This year an impressive 197 entries from 50 entrants nationwide were scrutinised by an expert and panel of 33 judges comprising leading chefs, food connoisseurs and master butchers. The judging was officially opened by NZPork Deputy Chair, Steve Kidby, who had himself been a judge on a previous panel. Anita Sarginson, Ambassador, NZChef's Association was once again the esteemed Head Judge.
