Dave McCavitt flies high in the Auckland Town Hall yesterday during the 2005 Aotearoa Hip-Hop Summit.
His event was the Bonnie 'n' Clyde B-Boy and B-Girl team hip-hop dance competition.
The summit, a free public event, is now in its fifth year. Today's feature event is a 20-person "turntable jam", being touted as a world first.
The "jam" features the country's top DJs, led by DJ Poroufessor and the T3 crew, a collection of five country boys converging from, among other places, "the haunted totara bush of Ngati Porou" to take on the city crews.
The summit, sponsored by Boost Mobile, also includes a graffiti jam, beat boy/beat girl battles, DJ workshops, a trade show, and a panel discussion.
A free "Finale Extravaganza" concert will be held in the Great Hall tonight.
Local hip-hop royalty Che Fu, Nesian Mystic, Ladi6, and the Fast Crew will also perform.
Summit organiser Alistair Kwun said up-and-coming South Auckland crew Smashproof featured 20-year-old Tyree, whose debut album had already secured international distribution through Universal Music.
