She's a doting mother to her four-year-old son Luca. And Hilary Duff treated the young boy to a day at Disneyland on Monday.
The 29-year-old shared a snap from the fun excursion with the caption: "Happiest happiest happiest happiest happiest happiest happiest happiest place on earth! We love you @disneyland".
But fans were quick to criticise the 29-year-old Younger star with comments such as: "You should not kiss your son like that. There's other ways to show love but not that one. It's confusing for him, it's not healthy."
Duff has fired back at "warped" fans, posting a brief message to Instagram on Tuesday.
"For anyone commenting that a kiss on the lips with my four year old is 'inappropriate' go ahead and click a quick unfollow with your warped minds and judgment."
Following her response, fans appeared to come to her defense.
One fan commented on the "sweet picture" telling the actress to "cherish these moment."
Another said she shows affection for her son the same way: "What? Are you serious. My son is 4 and I still kiss him on the lips."
Earlier this year, Victoria Beckham faced backlash over a similar photo with her daughter Harper.
She was trolled over the image of herself kissing Harper on the lips, with followers claiming parents kissing a child on the lips was "strange" and "pervy".
One commentor said: "This is child sexual abuse". Another wrote: "Why tf are you kissing your daughter on the mouth" and one said: "Ew sorry I'm old fashioned it looks like they making out".
But after receiving over 4,000 comments on the photo, the mother-of-four experienced a stream of support from fellow mums sharing their own photos of themselves kissing their children on the lips.
