An elderly man who was left with an empty home after the family of his dead wife took everything broke down in tears as police officers brought him gifts.
The Birmingham neighbourhood officers WPC Rogers and PC Greaves took it upon themselves to go above and beyond after hearing the OAP's plight, the Daily Mail reports.
The pair turned up on his doorstep in Ladywood with a bag of shopping and a new TV for the unnamed pensioner.
He cried into the arms of one of the officers who had also brought along a new microwave and toaster for him after enlisting the of charity Trident Reach.
Representing core values of neighbourhood policing .... PC Greaves and WPC Rogers delivered and set up items for the elderly gentleman .... safe to say it was a tearful moment and he was extremely grateful for the kindness #careinthecommunity#thehandoffriendshippic.twitter.com/5AKQ8dX9Da
The officers then put the kettle on and made him a cup of tea and some toast as they installed and showed him how to work his new TV.
In one heartwarming picture, one of the officers can be seen holding the gentleman's hand as they watch a TV show. In another image one of the officers shows the man how to work his new TV remote.
Accompanying the picture, they wrote: "WPC Rogers and PC Greaves have sourced essential items for the elderly gentleman.
"He lost his wife recently and her family have gone and taken her items leaving him with an empty home."
They later added: "PC Greaves and WPC Rogers delivered and set up items for the elderly gentleman - safe to say it was a tearful moment and he was extremely grateful for the kindness.
"He broke down crying in WPC Rogers arms .... he was a little bit overwhelmed, but he deserved it."
Another tweet explained how the officers used their neighbourhood contacts and enlisted the help of the Trident Reach charity.
The charity provided the money to buy a replacement TV.
