Teenage singing star Hayley Westenra performed yesterday at a memorial service for her fellow United Nations Children's Fund ambassador Sir Peter Ustinov.
The 16-year-old New Zealander sang Pokarekare Ana during the 30-minute service in New York for Sir Peter, who died in March.
Unicef New Zealand's executive director, Dennis McKinlay, said the British actor had been with Unicef for 39 years and Westenra had been with it for one.
"There was a lovely touch about Hayley singing at Sir Peter's memorial, as Sir Peter was Unicef's oldest ambassador and Hayley is the youngest."
Westenra said she was proud to sing at Sir Peter's memorial, and she hoped to continue his work with children.
