We have to admit, we're addicted to New Zealand's Next Top Model. Kyla Rose is lucky enough to have had the chance to work behind the scenes on the show, working as the "hair director". She works alongside the rest of the Servilles creative team to create those hairstyles on photo shoots and for the judging panel (seeing Colin Mathura-Jeffree's over-the-top coiffure each week is one of the best bits of the show). Rose, who has lived and worked in London and New York, is a key member of the Servilles team, working as a creative director for the salon and helping on seasonal campaigns. Of course Rose won't tell us anything about her time on the show - everyone is under very strict confidentiality agreements - but she does spill the beans on some of her own sartorial secrets.
Who are your favourite designers?
Marc Jacobs, Sass & Bide, Dries Van Noten, Charlotte Ronson, Rebecca Taylor, Christian Siriano... too many to mention.
What's your biggest indulgence?
Travelling the world, it's the university of life.
How do you define the word "fashionable", what does it mean to you?
A person with great style from head-to-toe and being able to put items together well, regardless of whether they are the latest trend or vintage.
What do you wear to work?
I love to dress up for work, the code is mainly black and usually consists of dresses, heels, scarves, jewellery and lashes. My girly, frilly, frou-frou items always seem to resurface throughout the seasons.
Your fashion obsession?
Spending far too much time on the New York Times website for all of the latest fashion shows and collections. And magazines, there's nothing better than poring through the latest Vogue, W and celebrity trash magazines.
Whose wardrobe would you most like to raid?
Rachel Zoe, Nicole Richie, Kate Moss.
Your favourite shop?
TK Store, Brown St, Ponsonby. Turet Knuefermann designs such tasteful, sexy lines for the feminine shape. I always end up buying much more than I had planned.
Your favourite shop elsewhere?
Otto Tootsi Plohound, 5th Ave, New York. An incredible handbag and shoe store. It stirs up varied emotions of "absolute excitement" teamed with "sick, monetary guilt".
What is your beauty routine?
A couple of favourites are Kerastase Oleo-Fusion Ritual, a divine hair treatment and Environ skincare. Environ Vitamin C-infused facials from The Face Place, plenty of sleep, water, green tea and omega 3.
Is there anything you'd never wear?
Animal print, leopard, tiger, zebra. None of it.
What is the biggest fashion/beauty/hair mistake you have ever made?
I like to call them lessons learned and never to be repeated. There are plenty, especially dressing to impress for a big Saturday night in the early 90s.
Is there anything you think the fashion police should ban?
Tight, skin-coloured trousers, wrong and slightly naked-looking. And wide, three-quarter capri pants.
Any style icons?
Patricia Field, I love her ruthless styling philosophy and her boutique in New York City is crazy fun.
The one rule you always dress by?
Dress correctly for your body shape, not necessarily the trend of the moment.
The one fashion rule you always break... or that you think should never have been a rule in the first place?
The rule of matching shoes or boots, belt and handbag. Mismatching your co-ordinates may require a little more focus, but the results are quirky and original.
Best city for fashion shopping in the world?
After a recent trip there, it's now a tie between Milan and Paris.
Most overrated item in fashion?
The micro shorts and minis, designed for the minority.
Hair and now
