Three batches of Guide biscuits have been withdrawn because of "imperfections" as the annual fundraiser starts today.
Griffins, makers of the biscuits, has withdrawn two batches of original biscuits and is currently withdrawing a third because of cooked product residue marking the bottom of the biscuits.
GirlGuiding New Zealand chief executive, Susan Coleman, said the withdrawal was disappointing, but had been dealt with quickly.
"It's important to us that our customers enjoy high quality biscuits, so if they discover an imperfection in their biscuits we're asking them to return the packet to their local Guiding group and the biscuits can either be replaced like for like if they have some available, or with a delicious packet of Guide Chocs or Minis. Buyers can also call Griffin's on 0800 GRIFFINS - 0800 474 338."
"New Zealanders should be reassured that these batches are only a small proportion of Guide biscuits sold during biscuit season. In total there are over 30,000 cartons of quality Originals for sale."
