Greek mythology story wins Children's Book of the Year

Otago writer Ken Catran's Voyage with Jason has won the Children's Book of the Year Award. Catran, aged 56 and an award-winning television scriptwriter, had two books among the finalists.

Voyage With Jason deals with the Greek myth of Jason's voyage to the Black Sea about 1800 BC.

Some 38,000 children were asked to vote for their favourite book and the winner here was Oliver in the Garden, by Margaret Beames and Sue Hitchcock.
