Moving from Tasmania to Canberra to be closer to family after Mrs Martin fell ill - Frank thought his chances of marrying Sylvia had come to an end.
But after she recovered, Mrs Martin decided to reconnect and find Frank - who had since moved to Adelaide.
A few months ago, the great-grandmother managed to convince her old friend that a move to Canberra would be worthwhile.
When he arrived, Mr Raymond asked the question again - and after learning that she could in fact keep her deceased husband's surname - Sylvia said yes.
Living in a retirement village together, the bride-to-be found herself on the hunt for the perfect wedding dress for her big day in July.
In a Facebook post, Mrs Martin asked for the help of strangers to help decide between four suitable frocks.
