Boho doesn't stop with a peasant skirt and some jangling earrings. And don't think you've done your duty by adding multiple strands of beads to that get-up.
If you're going in for the look, you have to get it right in the makeup department. Otherwise, you could just bypass all the wardrobe requirements and make a gypsy statement with your eyeshadow and not even worry about trying to copy Sienna's wardrobe.
What all this hippie gear needs is colour and plenty of it. Good thing there's a lot of it about this season.
These aren't raw blues or harsh greens though. Colour has become much more sophisticated since the platform wedge was last in the spotlight.
The colours are more sophisticated, softer and far more appealing than they were. Washes of greens, blues and purples work well if they're made even prettier with complementary highlight colours. Then, because the look needs a bit of toughing-up, loads of mascara and an imperfect application of eyeliner is just the antidote to stop everything from being too pretty-pretty. It will look all the better for a bit of wear and smudging.
A soft, peach-toned lip and you've got a match made in heaven. Otherwise, keep things neutral. Avoid too much gloss, which would distract from the eye. And don't feel the need to painstakingly paint the perfect pout with a lip brush - it will add to the feel if you use your fingers.
There should be no need for a lecture about your skin looking its best - with the help of sheer foundations and cream blushers and, of course, a good skincare regime. Every season demands as much.
This summer, skin can have amazing glow with the emergence of gold as a hot favourite.
It's a force to be reckoned with. And with gold making an appearance in fashion and accessories, it was always going to be a feature of makeup. Not only has it infiltrated the usual lineup of bronzers and skin enhancers, but it's being used on the eyes. Even some lipsticks have been shot through with gold.
It should be a highlight for a palette of browns and natural tones. The effect, used in moderation, is one of unadulterated warmth. The gold story works with the tribal goings-on, the Grecian goddess look, and with some of the season's sizzling swimwear.
