Auckland stylist Jock Robson won the top prize at the Wella Trend Vision hair awards last night, but he will have to compete for trophy space with his wife Sara Allsop.
The couple, who own Mt Eden salon Dharma, are no strangers to vying for titles against each other.
In June, Allsop claimed the Schwarzkopf Hair Expo New Zealand Hairdresser of the Year title, with Robson also a finalist. This time round, Allsop was helping out as Robson's assistant when he won the Wella Color Gold award.
"I'm over the moon! I really couldn't have done this without the team I have around me, particularly my wife, Sara. I now get to go to the world stage and represent New Zealand, which is very, very exciting," Robson said.
His winning look was an interpretation of the Glamazon trend, in which he had to recreate a photographic entry before judges at the Auckland Town Hall, being assessed on colour work, styling and the flair shown in his model's fashion and accessorising.
