The Ben Lummis bandwagon has hit Gisborne, with more than 300 fans turning out to see the NZ Idol winner promote his first album in a record store.
Detour Music owner Simon Muirhead described sales of the album as amazing.
"I've never before seen a response like it for a local signing."
The store sold out within two days, he said.
Lummis said he enjoyed meeting fans and signing autographs.
"I love to take the time out to make people happy. I know that I wouldn't be here without them."
He remained committed to the clean-living image that has already become a trademark.
