She was asked by the manager to do 100 deep squats in the morning.
"My daughter was not feeling well after and bought some medicine. But she cannot move her legs," said Mr Jiang.
Xiao Fei's mother took her to Hunan, their hometown, and sought medical help.
On July 28, Xiao Fei was not able to lift up her hands and went into a state of unconsciousness.
She was admitted into the intensive care unit of Central South University, Xiangya No 2 Hospital and died on August 7.
Medical reports shown to a reporter indicated that the girl died from respiratory failure.
In the doctor's notes, Xiao Fei was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome, a very rare and serious disorder that affects the nerve system.
However it did not point out whether the syndrome was directly caused by deep squatting.
According to the NHS, Guillain-Barré syndrome can cause numbness, pain and muscle weakness to the patients and mainly affects their feet, hands and limbs.
It can also cause life-threatening problems such as severe breathing difficulties or blood clots, resulting around one death in every 20 cases.
Mr Jiang explained that his daughter was trying to earn money to pay off his medication for uremia.
Xiao Fei and her two other sisters had quit school and worked to help their father.
Guangdong Television Broadcast contacted a manager, surnamed Li, at the Sunny Garden office of Qfang real estate agency.
Li admitted Xiao Fei had done deep squats but "it was not a punishment".
"She (Xiao Fei) volunteered to do deep squats. We are divided in teams here, and rules are set by their team leaders," Li said.
Ms Wang from Qfang's legal department replied to the reporter that they found out that Xiao Fei had stolen another person's identity card to apply for the job.
She was unaware that Xiao Fei had not reached the age of 16 but she denied that Xiao Fei was handed a 100 deep squat punishment.
