Gilligan's boat well grounded

For just under $143,000 you can buy the boat which ran aground on a desert isle, setting the stage for the 1960s television classic Gilligan's Island.

Like the show's SS Minnow, the real-life Minnow also ran aground. The twin-diesel, 11m mahogany Wheeler Express Cruiser hit a reef as the former owner was taking the vessel down the coast from Alaska.

Scotty Taylor, a Canadian boat broker, said the owner sold the 46-year-old boat to him for salvage on condition that he restore it. He estimated that the work cost almost $260,000 and is selling the vessel because he is tired of it.
