Hayley Slater looked chipper as she joined 24 beauties practising their swings as well as their smiles yesterday in the build-up to the Miss Universe New Zealand beauty pageant.
Ms Slater, who is Miss Continental Cars Volkswagen, and 23 others from around the country were having a day out at Kaye Maxwell's Golf Academy in Ramarama.
Val Lott, the national director of Miss Universe NZ, said the contestants had spent the week boating, touring around Auckland, "and rehearsing, of course".
The contestants line up for the Miss Universe NZ pageant this Saturday at the Langham Hotel in Auckland.

The $15,000 winning prize package includes a trip to Mexico City for the international Miss Universe pageant, to be held on May 28.
