Just about every cartoon or comic-book character has made the jump to the big screen over the past few years. Garfield, the overweight marmalade cat, never made a jump anywhere — his persona was lazy, cynical and ... well, couch-bound.
This is an unsuccessful attempt to mate a computer-generated Garfield (voiced by Bill Murray, though he has asked us not to tell anyone) and his cartoon pals, Odie the dumb dog and Nermal the conniving cat, with human actors. Breckin Meyer plays Garfield's long-suffering owner, Jon, and Jennifer Love Hewitt, whose pay cheque must be shrinking with every appearance, is the vet in his life.
The disc features 16 minutes of deleted scenes, behind-the-scenes footage, a mildly entertaining piece from the cartoonist who drew the star that the kids can draw along with, a commentary track and a couple of interactive games.
