A new Whangarei bridge, modelled on the traditional Maori fish hook hei matua and crossing the Lower Hatea River, has won the supreme New Zealand Commercial Projects Awards.
Other winners were AUT's new Sir Paul Reeves Building and Christchurch buildings including the temporary stadium, CDHD Christchurch Hospital Parkside Wards and Acute Medical Assessment Unit, St Andrew's College's Strowan House earthquake repairs and Christchurch International Airport's terminal project.
Awards spokesperson Warwick Quinn of Registered Master Builders said the winners - in particular the supreme winner - represented the best of the best in New Zealand's commercial property sector.
Quinn said the number of Christchurch projects showed the rebuild was well under way.
