Right across Auckland, libraries are doing their bit to keep the munchkins busy.
1. Birkenhead
Birkenhead library has an extensive list of activities, such as Curl up and Read (3.30-4.30pm, July 19) during which the little ones can enjoy Milo and cookies as they're read fun stories. Alternatively, 8-12-year-olds in teams of at least two can have a go at the Winter Library Treasure Hunt (10.30am -12pm, July 27).
2. Waiheke
Kids on the island are well catered for by Waiheke library. They can warm up with the Winter Games (11am, July 27), pop along to Winter Storytime sessions (10am, July 19 and 26) and get creative at Cold Weather Crafts (11am, July 20).
3. Glen Innes
It's game time over at Glen Innes library: at Games Galore - Board Games (1-3pm, July 20) kids 5-13 years will compete against each other in the library for a prize. And at Games Galore - Playstation Games (1-3pm, July 27) those aged 5-13 will compete in three different games, with prizes to boot.
4. Avondale
Avondale library is making itself a warm haven these holidays. Journey to the South Pole (10.30am, July 20) will involve Antarctic races, snowflake-making and more wintry fun; perfect for 5-12-year-olds. And Snuggle-up evening storytime (6.30-7.15pm, July 28) means songs, stories and craft activities for 4-6-year-olds. Bring PJs, a sleeping bag/blanket and soft toy.
