It's hard to stay on trend and create a stylish home when there are so many trends constantly being rolled out and promoted across social media.
Stores such as The Warehouse, H&M Home and of course, Kmart, have all stepped up their homeware game in recent years. But that doesn't mean the affordable, on-trend items will stand the test of time.
In fact some items still on the shelves, have already done their dash - here's looking at you pink flamingos.
If you're looking to up your decor game, here are five looks interior experts say it's time to avoid.
Everyone knows someone who's had a "Live, Laugh, Love" sign in their bedroom for far too long. As we approach a new year, there's no doubt these inspo signs have had their day.
Sure, they added a little pep to your step and helped with daily affirmations, but according to experts from design magazine Better Homes and Gardens, this particular trend has run it's course.
• What's next?
Instead of all the uplifting one-liners, the magazine suggests using a unique print to add warmth to your home.
They came in the form of lamps, neon lights, cushions and pool toys. But today, friends, pink flamingo interiors are dead.
Looking back, the long-legged birds had a good run: The trend began in 2016, boomed in 2017, and while they've stuck around this year too, as we approach another summer, that bright pink flamingo vibe is done.
• What's next?
If you still want to a fun, summery feel in your home, consider new takes on tropical prints instead.
3. Seashells and driftwood
Those who live close to the sea or crave that relaxed seaside vibe, may have fully committed to the seashell home trend that took off in 2016.
If you're looking around your living room at driftwood lamps and ornaments, seashells in jars, woven baskets and that bit of coral on your windowsill, we're sorry to inform you the tide has turned on this look.
• What's next?
Interior trends are returning to more luxurious fixtures and traditional homeware pieces. Consider piles of books, scented candles and vases of fresh flowers - all are making a big impact.
4. Faux fur
Often used to compliment the Scandi trend, furs have become a popular style accent in recent years - that sheepskin over your favourite cane chair passes with a push.
While the Scandi vibe may still be going strong, the shows over for the fluff. Better Homes and Gardens recommend fur cushions and throws be switched out in favour of velvets, quilted fabrics and luxurious leathers instead.
5. All-white everything
It's a crisp, classic option but, as those of us who embraced this trend know all too well, all-white interiors aren't practical, and can be impossible to keep clean.
• What's next?
Interior trends in 2018 are showing a move towards colour, in neutral and complimentary shades, or deep jewel tones, to break up spaces and create a moody look in your home.
