You wouldn't keep a lion, a wolf or a grizzly bear as a pet - but you can find dogs that look just like them.
Bedlington Terrier
Named after a mining town in North East England, you could be forgiven for thinking that the Bedlington Terrier is a little pet lamb. But don't be fooled by their appearance - these dogs have been said to possess the spirit of a thoroughbred racehorse.
Siberian Husky
Though not officially wolves, Siberian Huskies do share genetic closeness to the well-known gray wolf. These handsome dogs - like Samoyeds and Alaskan Malamutes - are directly descended from the original sled dog.
Tibetan Mastiff
Native to Tibet, where they're known as 'Drog-Khyi' (literally 'nomad dog'), Tibetan Mastiffs are enormous mountain dogs that, thanks to their unruly mane-like head of fur, can often be mistaken for lions. We reckon it's no coincidence that, just like lions, Tibetan Mastiffs are fiercely loyal (and a little stubborn, too).
Brussels Griffon
Does an Ewok count as an animal? Brussels Griffons are directly responsible for the creation of Ewoks, the fictional teddy-bear-like creatures made famous in George Lucas's Star Wars universe. (Lucas actually had a Brussels Griffon himself.) With their iconic beards and funny-looking underbites, these are some of the most recognisable toy dogs of the lot.
