"Dad," said Ryan when he got home, "what are the Fibonacci cows?" He was reading it from his homework diary, hoping his pronunciation was right. Mrs Winters had pronounced the "nacci" at the end as "nahtchee".
"The what?" His dad was mixing herbs for a casserole. Dad's casseroles were unbeatable. Just the thought of it made Ryan's mouth water.
"The Fibonacci cows. I've got to do a project on them for school."
"Hmm," said his father. "Maybe you could look them up on the internet? Not right now, though. I need you to run up to the supermarket and get some rice. And, don't forget, it's soccer practice again tonight."
It was eight o'clock when Ryan finally began searching the internet for anything to do with "Fibonacci'.
