KEY POINTS:
Swandri jackets and jandals are out but overalls and polar fleece vests are definitely in... In Eketahuna.
Todd Calkin and David Weston are travelling around the country interviewing people on their fashion sense. The pair have a website ournz.co.nz where they are posting videos of interviews with locals.
While the models strut their stuff in Auckland, the Tararua township is looking the other way.
Mr Calkin said the clothes worn by the people of Eketahuna were practical and comfortable.
"It's a fusion between industrial and parochial. You can fairly well say that what is in this season, was in last season. It's drawing heavily on last season and the season before, probably a few actually," Mr Calkin said.
He said many people they had spoken to didn't know Fashion Week was on and thought it was all "a bit of a laugh".
But Mr Weston said Fashion Week didn't just begin and end in Auckland.
"It's locals down here that make up the fabric of New Zealand. We think, as a country, New Zealand is fashionable," he said.
The pair are now in Otaki where as Mr Calkin said "getting your gear off is the latest trend".
While the Kapiti Coast Council considers allowing nudity on its beaches, Mr Calkin said the birthday suit was becoming quite fashionable.
He said that could be the topic of the next video on the site.
"There's some interesting colours in this season. There's tan, there's pink, there's skin colours, there's even white when people are wanting to be sun smart. So, that's our predictions for the upcoming season on the Kapiti Coast," Mr Calkin said.
Mr Calkin and Mr Weston will also head to the South Island to check out what the West Coast and the deep South have to offer in threads.
