Fashion: The big fashion cover-up

It is now officially winter and time to get your coat game locked down. Just to keep it interesting, there's not a black coat in sight.

For a timeless full-length coat with a twist it has to be all about taylor's Compose Coat.

I love the minimalist feel and the top stitching detailing, with splits at the arms
that can be unzipped for effect.

One of the biggest trends this winter is the oversized unstructured coat, illustrated beautifully by Zambesi's Shawl Coat, made from a wool boucle with front patch pockets with a raglan sleeve and an exaggerated cuff.

Also along these lines is the Riley Coat from Australian label Maurie & Eve, which is an oversized double-breasted style with extended ribbed cuffs.

For a winter pastel, you can't beat a soft pink and I have selected coats from New Zealand's own Lucy McIntosh and online mega store Boohoo to cover all bases.

From Boohoo, the Kate Belted Shawl Collar Coat again shows the unstructured trend. One that I'm eyeing up for myself from Lucy McIntosh is her double-breasted Pavement Coat in a wool cashmere blend for the ultimate luxury.

Andrea Moore's take on the trench is her Glamourous Disregard Coat, featuring sleek lines and extended flaps. I adore the bold beet colourway - guaranteed to lighten up a gloomy winter's day.

From Huffer's diffusion line Aim is its Golden Coat. Made in a gold-coated fabric with a mock double front and featuring drop shoulders and a cocoon shape it is one of the coolest coats around.

Capes continue to trend heavily this season. Have a Parisian moment in moochi's Corner Cape, one of the most fabulous options I've spotted - the deep berry colourway is divine and there are only limited numbers available so get in quick.

Country Road's Detailed Cape is a beautifully structured take on the trend in a light grey marle.

Also timely with the seasonal shift, The Line Up features tall boots covering all this season's trends, Minnetonka's ultimate moccasin styling, some utilitarian-meets-motorcycle action from Mi Piaci and the must-have thigh silhouette in a soft khaki suede from Stuart Weitzman.
