How would you describe Sydney style? When it comes to fashion, what does the city do best?
Off-the-beach fashion. Nowhere does BBQ dressing quite like Australian girls, we have some of the prettiest casual dressing going around.
And what does it get wrong?
Often it's just too short for evening.
Who are your best-dressed man and woman in Sydney?
Former Prime Minister Paul Keating's daughter, Alexandra Keating - she mixes vintage into a new wardrobe very well making her look always modern and fresh. She is also a natural beauty. Bradley Perkins, one of my agents, he wears everything I would wear if I was a guy.
Who are your favourite designers?
Internationally my current favourite designer is Nicolas Ghesquiere for Balenciaga. He always presents new ideas, pushing your own thoughts on design forward. He cleverly drives your imagination while remaining classic. I also covet Phoebe Philo's collections for Celine. She makes a woman look super, super chic. They also have the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn! In Australia, I love Dion Lee. His clever craftsmanship of fabrication should not be underestimated. And Lover - I have a soft spot for the "feminine", and I am extremely proud of an Australian label that has stood the test of time and continued to evolve. This year is their 10-year anniversary.
How do you describe your sense of style at the moment?
It's always simple and effortless.
What is your favourite Sydney boutique?
The Corner Shop. It has a mix of local and international designers in an environment that is fun and friendly.
Do you shop online? Where?
Yes, I order stationery online.
What was the last item of clothing you bought?
Two Prada SS11 dresses. Somehow it always end up being Prada Prada Prada.
What do you want to buy next?
Again, Prada.
What's your beauty essential?
Dr Hauschka Rose cream.
What do you wear to work?
Today I am wearing a Tiffany & Co. locket necklace, Therese Rawsthorne jeans, a Stella McCartney shirt with Dries van Noten boots.
Best style advice you ever had?
To always create your own style and be confident about it. This is something I have taught myself.
Most cherished fashion item - and what is the story behind it?
I was recently given a Rolex by my parents, it's fair to say it will be treasured forever.
Favourite fashion-y movie, or fashion moment in film?
I studied film at NYU, so depending on what I am doing there is always a movie reference in the back of my head when I am shooting. For example, on the Heavenly Creatures shoot for StyleMeRomy.com, I was channelling the Australian film Picnic at Hanging Rock.
