Yes it's superficial but c'est la vie. When the going gets tough, it's a given that a bright, bold hue can add a spring to your step. Take, for example, yellow. Described as a colour of optimism, creativity and enlightenment, it is a tour de force when it comes to fashion, turning heads and encouraging a sunny disposition in the process. Retailers and designers agree, and having previewed several collections already, we've been overwhelmed by the lack of black, overtaken this time round by a wash of loud block brights.
For an easy segue into wearing a primary bright, there's plenty of colourful jewellery and accessory options to experiment with. Then again, why not go all the way and try a bold-coloured dress or a bright top with jeans or earthy coloured pants? For something even more exuberant, try teaming clashing colours such as pink and red - the chic colour combination may be surprisingly less saccharine than you imagine.
