Bold, black and white stripes may be the biggest story for the season but oversized spots offer a more playful take on the graphic trend - as worn here by fashion public relations manager Anna-Lise Sharma (accessorised with her new blue bicycle: girls on bikes, another trend of the moment).
The classic polka dot has long been favoured by creatives drawn to its simplicity and uniformity yet upbeat quirkiness; used by artists Yayoi Kusama, Damien Hirst, Roy Lichtenstein and the master of pointillism Georges Seurat, and fashion designers like Marni's Consuelo Castiglioni, Comme des Garcons' Rei Kawakubo and Marc Jacobs, who have made them their signature. Like stripes, this is a fashion mainstay, but the way to wear this season's spots? Graphic black and white, and bigger is better. Look to the full-on matching polka dot pants and T-shirt set at Celine for Resort 2013, Twenty-Seven Names' navy dots (a spotty shirt and pants worn together), or Liam's charming big spots, pictured.
