A Far North Limousin/Angus steak has been named the tastiest steak in New Zealand.
The beef, from Whangarei sisters Kathy Child and Yvonne Hill, beat 400 other entries in the country's "pinnacle of beef tasting competitions", the 2010 Meat and Wool Steak of Origin.
The sisters took home the competition trophy and a cheque for $6500.
Steak of Origin, now in its eighth year, was judged by BMX world champion Sarah Walker, ex All Black Richard Low, radio broadcaster Jamie Mackay, and top chefs Hester Guy and Graham Hawkes.
The supreme brand award went to Chef's Choice in Wanganui with their AngusPure steak.
