The Fallout Festival starts this month at venues in Taupo, Ohakune and National Park. It's as if Queenstown's Winter Festival has been moved to North Island skifields. It begins on August 20 with the Fallout Party and winds up with another party on September 10.
The Fallout Party, a multi-venue extravaganza, includes DJ Dick Johnson at the Projection Room, Greg Churchill at the Powderkeg, the D4 at Hot Lava, Control Sound System at Margaritas and a retro party at Turoa Lodge.
There will also be evenings devoted to short films and comedy. Also featuring will be DJs DLT, Stinky Jim and Philippa, and bands, including the Upbeats. If you can't find anything to tickle your fancy there, you shouldn't be on the skifields.
