Annah Stretton went western for her showing at NZFW this afternoon, with a collection inspired by frontier woman Calamity Jane.
Country references were scattered throughout the range, with rope belts, fitted denim vests, bustiers, lace detailing, flared pants and earthy colours.
Prevalent throughout the range were ruffles, which appeared on almost every garment, and plaids in every shape and form (including one plaid fabric, in blue and yellow, that looked suspiciously like a fabric used at Twentysevennames last year).
The western theme has a very high risk of heading into costume territory, but Stretton kept it relatively tame with this collection - with no cowboy hats in sight.
