This week's People cover story of Angelina Jolie under the headline, "Yes, I'm pregnant," cost the magazine about $US400,000 ($580,214.67) for the photo rights.
The proceeds went to Yele Haiti, a charity founded by musician Wyclef Jean and endorsed by Jolie.
"It is not a pay-for-access deal," said Larry Hackett, the managing editor of People. "Her representatives knew that People was going to do the story on her pregnancy regardless of whether we bought the photographs."
