'Everybody started laughing': Customer 'humiliated by fast-food worker

Jimmy Shue was shocked when a Wendy's employee asked for his name but wrote 'Chubby' on his receipt instead.

A fast-food worker has been fired after a customer claimed he was left "humiliated" when he discovered the rude nickname that had been written on the receipt.

When Jimmy Shue placed his order at a Wendy's in North Carolina he was horrified to find that the employee had written his name down as "chubby" instead of "Jimmy".

"When I went in an placed an order the cashier asked my name, I clearly said Jimmy … I get my receipt and she thought it was funny to put chubby as my name … I was embarrassed, and humiliated," Mr Shue wrote on Facebook.

To make matters worse, a different staff member called his name out as Chubby when the order was ready.

"He was hesitant to even say 'Chubby' but he did and I told him, 'That's not my name but that's my order,' and I grabbed the order and started to walk out because I was mad," Shue told WFMY.

"Everybody started laughing in the restaurant, and I got really embarrassed."

Shue flagged the incident to Wendy's corporate who put him in touch with someone at the local restaurant who simply told him the situation was 'dealt with' without any further explanation.

A spokesperson for the company later apologised and confirmed that the employee responsible had been fired.

Locals who frequent the Wendy's in Gastonia said they were appalled with the horrible incident.

"Why anybody would write 'Chubby' is just cruel," one customer said to WFMY.

"I think they should make it right," they added.
