English novelist Elizabeth Jane Howard has died at the age of 90.
The Cazalet Chronicle author passed away at her home in Bungay, Suffolk on Thursday after a short illness, according to the BBC.
Howard began her career as a theatre actress and broadcaster before winning the the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize in 1951 for her first novel, The Beautiful Visit.
She then published five instalments of The Cazalet Chronicle, her most famous works.
The first two, The Light Years and Marking Time, were turned into a TV series titled The Cazalets.
