The North Shore City Council, which is establishing an economic and cultural relationship with Qingdao city in eastern China, sees an opportunity there for the marine industry. Qingdao, which will host the 2008 Olympic sailing regatta, is spending vast amounts of money on boating related infrastructure.
Shore councillor Paul Dunphy will host a session at the Marine Industry Association boardroom, 85 Westhaven Drive, from 10am on Wednesday, February 1. He will brief members and interested marine industry people on the council's plans for Qingdao, both in relation to the Olympics and the superyacht industry.
