As project co-ordinator of exhibitions at the Auckland Art Gallery, Sonya Korohina is busy with shows such as the Walters Prize and this year's Mixed-Up Childhood exhibition. She still manages to find time to hunt out fashion pieces she loves.
Who are your favourite fashion designers?
Adrian Hailwood for making his dreams come true. Vivienne Westwood for doing it before everyone else and daring to look her age. And, of course, Comme des Garcons and Zambesi for their cut.
What do you wear to work?
An accessorised uniform. I've always had standard work outfits that allow for little indecision in the morning. In the mid 90s I even bought six similar dresses from Zambesi.
What is your favourite accessory?
A pink fedora my boyfriend brought back from Sydney.
What are the staple pieces for a good wardrobe?
A well-tailored, take-me-seriously suit, jeans, trainers and heels. And everything else between that makes you feel great.
What can't you go wrong wearing?
A great big smile.
What do you wear when you're relaxing at home?
Because it's summer, an old pair of dad's denim shorts and a T-shirt.
The last item of clothing you bought?
A wool Hailwood contemporary tuxedo-style jacket. It fits like a second skin.
Any fashion disasters?
In 1995 I had an afro permed in and cut on a slant. I paired this on Christmas Day with a purple, all-in-one backless Hawaiian jumpsuit.
Favourite hotels?
I have just spent the weekend at the Best Western Waitomo Cave Hotel. Built in 1908 it comes complete with chandeliers, cute kitsch rooms and seven ghosts.
What's your idea of relaxation?
Checking out the fantastic west coast beaches. I also sense an addiction about to develop for Sex and the City replacement Desperate Housewives screening later this year.
What is your beauty routine?
A 100 per cent natural rose face cream by Ocean Organics that my skin just gobbles up, their lip balm, and lashings of Agent Provocateur perfume.
What can't you live without?
My family, my sweet boyfriend and a cold chardonnay.
