Lucy Slater's career in the fashion industry ensures her wardrobe features designs hot off the catwalk.
After four years working in public relations and marketing at Workshop, Helen Cherry and Workshop Denim - where she also helped to design the Workshop Denim Women's collection - she has moved on to a new challenge.
As a freelancer, she works for two different fashion companies. For part of the week she does PR with Murray Bevan's fashion-focused Showroom 22, promoting and organising events for brands such as Little Brother and Karen Walker Eyewear.
The rest of the time she is employed by designer Claire Kingan-Jones using her design talents to assist on the Kingan Jones, RJC and Edge collections.
Who are your favourite fashion designers?
Locally, Helen Cherry and MAW by Madeleine Richards. Juliette Hogan and RJC do a great dress. Internationally, I really like Matthew Williamson, Marc Jacobs and See by Chloe.
What is your favourite accessory of the moment?
My new Tiffany & Co mesh ring.
What is your biggest fashion indulgence?
If there's something I really like, I often end up buying it in every colour. Also jeans. I think I have about 20 pairs. My favourites are Workshop Denim skinny zip jeans. I have these in three colours.
What is the last item of clothing you bought?
Helen Cherry's beige croc heels from last winter.
What do you wear to work?
At the moment it's lots of pretty dresses and flat sandals.
What is your beauty routine?
I've just discovered the Trilogy range of products, made from natural plant extracts. I cleanse, tone and moisturise twice a day using the Cream Cleanser and Hydrating Mist Toner. I moisturise in the morning with their Energising Face Lotion and use the Rose Hip Oil at night.
What can't you live without?
Friends, family, my boyfriend, morning coffee, Dizengoff creamy mushrooms and my ghds [hair styling irons].
What was the last CD you bought?
Bic Runga's Birds and Kanye West's Late Registration.
What was the last book you read?
Mona Minim and the Smell of the Sun by Janet Frame.
What item of makeup would you be lost without?
Trucco's Graphic Liquid Eyeliner in licorice.
What inspires you?
Travel, passionate people and beautiful design.
Any style icons?
Kate Moss.
Favourite colour?
Blue because it looks French. I have ordered every single French blue striped garment from Workshop Denim for winter.
Favourite store of the moment?
Dear Reader, a great new bookshop on Richmond Rd in Grey Lynn.
What's your idea of relaxation?
A crossword, a sunny day and a beautiful beach.
What's your favourite look?
Anyone who looks confident and comfortable with what they wear. Sometimes it's not about the clothes, it's how they're worn.
Best outfit ever?
I wore a custom-made dress to a friend's wedding a few years ago with Chloe earrings, Sergio Rossi shoes and a great tan I picked up in Thailand.
Best fashion bargain?
I went to China in November and bought some red embroidered slippers. They cost about $4 and I love them.
