Kelly Swanson-Roe is a regular face on television. She's appeared on shows such as Sportzah and Sports Tonight and done the odd stint as weathergirl on TV3. She's also become SunSilk's ambassador. Could have something to do with her shiny, healthy hair.
Who are your favourite fashion designers?
In New Zealand it's Sabine all the way. Offshore, I can't walk past the Lisa Ho store in Melbourne.
What is your favourite accessory of the moment?
A vintage peacock brooch, imported from Spain, sold at Sabine.
What is your biggest fashion indulgence?
I have a major shoe obsession that needs help. But on a positive note it does balance out my jewellery and handbag fetishes.
Latest buy?
Sabine's Divine Dress in silk chiffon. It's a bit of bohemian glamour meets girlie vintage.
The essential item for winter?
Boots. A long black number is essential when you want to feel vampish, and a relaxed leather comfy cowboy boot is an essential throw-on for everyday wear.
What can't you live without?
Right now, my Nikes. I'm training for the Auckland half-marathon, a first for me. Leaving my runners at work and at a friend's house is a recipe for procrastination.
Who does the best handbags?
Zambesi handbags are a perennial fave but more recently Mimco handbags have caught my eye, along with their eccentric accessories. Sabine in Ponsonby and Newmarket stock the range or if you're in Sydney check out the Oxford St store.
Who cuts your hair?
Francine Fletcher from Boo Hair Design in Grey Lynn. She's fabulous.
What is your beauty routine?
I've recently discovered the most incredible beauty products while filming in Tauranga. Lox Beauty has a very exclusive product called Janesce, which is an organic beauty range recommended by naturopaths. It's created by nuns in a sacred area forbidden to men and is truly heavenly. It's quite hard to come by so if I can't get my hands on it, Dermalogica comes second. I also use SunSilk's Silky Straight shampoo and conditioner and Leave In Straightening Treatment. The combination has significantly reduced my bad hair-mares.
What inspires you?
Accepting challenges that take me out of my comfort zone.
What was the last CD you bought?
Coldplay's X&Y.
What was the last book you read?
I'm just finishing Blink by Malcolm Gladwell. It's an incredibly absorbing read that challenges you to trust your instinctive ability and minimise second-guessing. I'm getting into The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold.
