As the marketing and promotions manager for C4 Music Television, Amanda Wilson could wear just about anything she liked without anyone in the office doing a double take.
Who are your favourite fashion designers?
I haven't really been obsessed with one particular designer since I used to collect Sass & Bide. I love Helen Cherry and have quite a bit of her stuff, with more on my "I want" list. Then bits and pieces from usual suspects: Karen Walker, Kate Sylvester, Paul & Joe, Moochi, Zambesi, Adrian Hailwood, and so on. Internationally, Chloe represents everything I love about clothes - very girly and classical. And my sister Natalie, who finds me wonderful things from vintage stores around the country.
What do you wear to work?
We're pretty casual at C4. I wear jeans, boots, singlets and cardigans, or a variation most days. Nothing too glam.
What is your favourite accessory of the moment?
Long layered vintage necklaces.
What do you wear when you're relaxing at home?
Singlets, hoodies and trackpants, or pyjamas.
What is the last item of clothing you bought?
A pair of leopard print court shoes from an op shop. They're more to have and to hold than to wear, as I've since discovered they're not particularly comfortable.
Any fashion disasters you'd care to mention?
My tendency to wear heavily labelled clothing back in the days of Standard Issue, Streetlife and World when they first opened. I've learned the art of subtlety and the value of money as I've grown up.
Who does the best handbags?
Second-hand stores. I prefer leather aged and soft. I'm not really a Louis Vuitton, $1000 handbag kind of girl, although the Birkin waiting list has me intrigued.
What was the last CD you bought?
I'm lucky and get most of my CDs through work. At the moment I have Queens of the Stone Age, Motocade, Interpol and Arcade Fire on my desk. But next week it could all be hip-hop.
What was the last book you read?
The Time Traveller's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger, the best book I've read in ages, if ever. I cried my eyes out. Everyone should read this book, it's incredible. The writer is an artist and you can tell.
Who cuts your hair?
Arran at Helmut, Eden Terrace. Regularly.
What is your beauty routine?
Mmm, I'd like to say something very fancy here, but I'm a bit lazy normally. I can do my makeup in two minutes. I use Cetaphil cleanser and moisturiser and eye cream every day.
What item of makeup would you be lost without?
Lipgloss, lipstick, lip anything. I must have moisture of some sort on my lips at all times, I don't like the feeling of bare lips.
Favourite hotels?
I'm spoiled for life after staying at Vatulele, a luxury resort in Fiji. It was incredible.
What can't you live without?
My amazingly beautiful family and my best friend Shannon.
What's your idea of relaxation?
Right now, because it's winter: DVDs, books, scented candles, blue cheese and red wine.
What's your biggest indulgence?
Food. I'm very naughty. I don't budget at all in this area and eat luxury foods - blue cheese, sashimi, avocados, olives, feta, red wine - which are my favourites, all the time. A huge amount of my income goes on eating. I'm like, "Ooooh we have half an hour to kill, let's go for an antipasto and a red wine." I think I've spent literally thousands of dollars on antipasti.
What inspires you?
People being creative and thoughtful. I'm inspired all the time by music, words, art, fashion, photos, books, writing, dance, creative ideas and thoughts - just people doing really cool stuff and being passionate about it. I love it. It excites me.
