Skate shoes have never been so cool. Marc Jacobs has teamed up with Vans to produce a limited range of sneakers which are bound to be popular - whether you own a skateboard or not.
The New York designer collaborated with Vans on a skate range a couple of years ago but it was sold only in Europe. This time, New Zealand has been included on the seller's list - Divo in St Lukes has scored a limited number of the autumn range, which features vibrant patent leathers, suedes and exclusive canvas prints. They're between $159 and $199. Get in quick.
Vada's head start
Auckland salon Vada heads the nominations for this year's Schwarzkopf Professional New Zealand Hairdressing Awards.
Nineteen finalists from around the country have been selected by a team of international judges for the awards. Vada has five nominations, including one for salon team of the year, and salon owner Guy Roberts is a two-time finalist for hairdresser of the year. Entrants submit photographic entries to the judging team - two of Roberts' were chosen for the top category.
Stephen Marr and Servilles are also up for the salon team of the year award.
One of award judges is Tyler Johnston, an international session and catwalk stylist, who works on London, New York, Paris and Milan fashion weeks. His personal client list includes David and Victoria Beckham, Cate Blanchett, Chrissie Hynde, Courtney Love and Helena Christensen.
Winners will be announced at a gala event at the Aotea Centre on May 6.
Lohan's their pick
Lindsay Lohan will replace model Gisele Bundchen as the next face of Louis Vuitton. The label's head designer, Marc Jacobs, has asked the young Hollywood star to pose for its autumn/winter collection.
Some fashion insiders think that Lohan, at 19, may lack the sophistication to represent the fashion house. But Jacobs wants his next ads to be young and "cartoony". So it could be just right for the star of Herbie: The Love Bug.
